Information For Authors
Interested in submitting to this journal? We recommend that you review the About the Journal page for the journal's section policies, as well as the Author Guidelines. Authors need to register with the journal prior to submitting or, if already registered, can simply log in and and start the submission process in four steps, described below.
The maximum number of authors of the manuscript is limited to six (06). The persons designated as authors must have participated in the preparation of the articles so that they can take public responsibility for their content. The qualification as an author should be based on the deliberations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (http://www.icmje.org) which guides the following aspects to be considered in the substantial contribution to the recognition of authorship: 1. Conception and design of work; 2. Obtaining, analyzing and interpreting the data; 3. Participation in the discussion of results; 4. Writing of the manuscript and critical review of its content; 5. Approval of the final version of the manuscript.
Submission
Submission consists of four steps:
- Step 1: Start
- Choose the Magazine Section (Editorial, Original Article, Reviews, Reflection Article, Experience Reports or Review);
- Choose the Category (Thematic Area / Axis);
- Confirm all requirements for sending the manuscript;
- Provide comments to the editor (optional); and
- Read and accept the Magazine's Copyright Statement.
- Step 2: Transfer of the Manuscript
- Select Article Text component and send the file. Confirm metadata and finish by sending a new file;
- Select a new component and repeat the previous steps until you have sent all the minimum documents required for submission, namely:
- a copy of the approval document in the Research Ethics Committee, in accordance with the rules of Resolutions Nº 466/2012 , Nº 510/2016 and Nº 580/2018, all from the National Health Council (CNS), or "Declaration of non-involvement of Human Beings in Research", digitized in .jpg or .pdf format;
the "Declaration of Responsibility and Transfer of Copyright" in which each one's contribution is specified, signed directly on the document, digitized in .jpg or .pdf format; and - the "Conflict of Interest Declaration" (all authors must sign this document), scanned in .jpg or .pdf format.

- Step 3: Insert Metadata
- Insert the Title (maximum of 20 words in each language - Portuguese, English and Spanish);
- Do not insert the Subtitle (if any) in the Subtitle field, but together with the Title in the corresponding field;
- Insert the Abstract (maximum of 200 words for each language);
- Insert the Coauthors (up to 5 more researchers). All must be identified with: full name, institution of origin, academic background, e-mail and ORCID ID;
- Insert the Descriptors according to the MeSH system; and
- Enter Keywords.
- Step 4: Confirmation
- You can go back and edit the information provided in any previous step; and
- Click on Finish Submission when everything is ready.
Important!
The Journal does not charge submission and publication fees. However, the process of revising the English language and translating the titles and abstracts into Portuguese and Spanish will be financed by the authors.
Deadlines
- Submission period: continuous flow.
- Editorial process:
- Phase 1: conformity assessment and ethical assessment carried out by the Editors:
- Review period of up to 7 days.
- Phase 2: double-blind assessment carried out by the reviewers:
- Evaluation period of up to four weeks.
- Phase 3: adjustments and reassessments:
- Deadline for changes in the article after the evaluators' considerations and resubmission of up to 15 to 21 calendar days.
- Period of reassessment by the reviewers of up to 7 days.
- Deadline for confirming the intention to publish after receiving the final Letter of Approval of up to 72 hours.
- Phase 4: final editing of the manuscript:
- Deadline for Text Editing: up to 7 days.
- Deadline for corrections after Text Editing: 24 hours.
- Layout Editing Deadline: up to 7 days.
- Deadline for approval of the final version of the article, after Layout Editing: 24 hours.
- Phase 1: conformity assessment and ethical assessment carried out by the Editors:
- Publication of the final version of the article: up to 48 hours.
Expected total deadline, from submission to publication: about 12 weeks.
Editorial responsibilities
Editorial Coordination
- Analyze the manuscripts regarding the scope of Revista Chronos Urgência;
- It evaluates the adequacy of the manuscript to the journal's submission guidelines within 72 hours. In this preliminary assessment, it will be analyzed:
- Ensure that the submitted manuscript meets the requirements for evaluation, in our case double-blind peer review, in the most fair and impartial way possible, ensuring that the information remains confidential (see the entire text and metadata content of the file); and
- Check:
- If the data of the authors (up to six), they were all provided in the submission metadata (full name, home institution, academic background, e-mail and ORCID ID);
- If, in the preparation of the manuscript, the presentation of the text, format and structure were respected according to the guidelines for submission of the Revista Chronos Urgência;
- If the text of the manuscript follows the guidelines of the Equator Network, according to the type of study carried out;
- If all supplementary documentation has been provided and signed: copy of the approval document from the Research Ethics Committee (CEP) or "Declaration of non-involvement of Human Beings in Research"; "Declaration of Responsibility and Transfer of Copyright"; and "Conflict of Interest Statement"; e
- In the absence of an editorial assistant, submit the manuscript to the magazine's anti-plagiarism mechanism (Ithenticate).
- To protect and protect intellectual property and authors' rights;
- Ensure the protection of the identity of the evaluators involved in the process;
- Guide Section Editors, Evaluators and Authors about the editorial flow and the peer review process, which involves complying with the journal's guidelines, submission, evaluation and referrals;
- Ensure that unpublished materials in an article are not used in research and publications carried out by Editors or members of the Editorial Board without the consent of the authors;
- Respond to questions related to a published article, regarding the possibility of editorial misconduct, following the guidelines of the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics);
- Publish, when necessary, corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies;
- Ensure the autonomy of editorial decisions;
- As a member of the Editorial Team, you must not participate as an expert; and
- When authoring articles in Revista Chronos Urgência, it should be made clear that peer review is carried out independently by the editor, carried out by the Section Editor, according to COPE guidelines. You should also post a comment, in the article itself, showing how transparent the review process was.
Section Editors:
- Organize the list of evaluators and keep their data updated;
- The preliminary evaluation of the manuscript submitted to the journal continues, in its ethical aspects, relevance and plagiarism policy, with a deadline of up to 96 hours for its editorial decision. For this you must:
- Carry out the documentary analysis provided, mainly on ethical criteria;
- Assess the relevance and contribution of the findings to the advancement of knowledge in your Thematic Area;
- If pertinent, refuse the manuscript, returning it to the Editorial Coordination together with their justifications regarding the analyzed aspects;
- Otherwise, send the manuscript for evaluation.
- Make an appropriate selection of at least two reviewers for the double-blind peer review:
- Guarantee the protection of the identity of the authors and reviewers involved in the arbitration process;
- For each evaluator, select and link the structured evaluation instrument of the journal to the manuscript. This instrument will be filled in by the referee when including his opinion in the magazine and may be sent in full to the author;
- Having disagreement in the opinions, the Section Editor can choose to make the final decision of the submission or select a third referee.
- As a member of the Editorial Team, you can participate as a reviewer of manuscripts from another Thematic Area than yours; and
- When authoring articles in the Revista Chronos Urgência, the Section Editor should not participate in the editorial flow, according to COPE guidelines, and another member of the Editorial Board should be appointed as the Section Editor for this manuscript. A comment must also be published, in the article itself, showing how transparent the review process was.
Reviwers and ad hoc:
- Inform the Editors of their availability to evaluate an article, when requested;
- Decline an invitation whenever you do not feel qualified to carry out the evaluation according to the topic addressed; the identification of aspects that lead to recognizing authorship; and / or if there is a conflict of interest;
- Treat manuscripts as confidential documents, protecting intellectual property and authors' rights, maintaining information confidentiality and committing themselves not to use privileged information for their own benefit, including in their research and / or publications;
- Prepare the opinion based on good editorial practices with regard to ethics, impersonality and respect for human rights;
- Inform the Editors of any identification of violation of good practices, rights by the authors and / or practices of plagiarism;
- Evaluate, according to the evaluation script of Revista Chronos Urgência:
- the originality of the contribution and the agreement with the scope of the journal;
- the appropriate and valid methodology;
- the rigorous analysis of the results and conclusions supported by the data presented;
- the correct use of the English;
- compliance with ethical criteria for experimentation and research integrity.
- When authoring articles in Revista Chronos Urgência, you must not participate in the editorial flow.
Authors:
- It is the authors' obligation to know the focus, scope and conception of Revista Chronos Urgência, as well as its submission guidelines;
- Ensure that the submitted article is original and that its approach and analysis are consistent and meaningful;
- When appropriate, give credit to the text by citing the sources and ensuring that there are no insertions or expressions that constitute plagiarism;
- Approach and problematize the data coherently, making clear the good practices of the investigation and / or in the study carried out;
- Pay attention to the ethical standards applicable to the study, when it comes to the involvement of human beings;
- Do not submit or publish the manuscript in another journal;
- Inform the Editors whenever there is a need to correct any information in the published article;
- Assign authorship only to those who had a significant contribution to the design and development of the study.
